The Latter-day Saints are known as Mormons. Church members consider themselves as true primitive Christianity. They believe that " divine apostolic authority as lost from the earth after the death of the ancient apostle." A necessary authority was restoration. Restoration began in the early 1800s and that they had a super natural communication with Joseph Smith. God had appeared to a 14 year old boy name Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith was the founder and president of the church of Latter-day Saints. The church organized in New York. Joseph smith led the church until June 1844 then he was martyred. Revelations are now in volumes of scriptures. The books are the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ and Doctrine and Covenants. There is a variety of service and how they appear. What they do is restore and preach the gospel. The church has no full time clergy in the congregational level. The highest level in the church are called full time apostles. They are considered remunerative profession and they will serve a lifetime as a "Special witness of Jesus Christ." and are in charge of the entire church. The health practices that members must follow are to stay away from alcohol, tobacco, tea, and coffee. Polygamy is strictly prohibited in this religion. Back in the time of Joseph Smith plural marriages were common. The fourth president by the name of Wilford Woodruff in 1890 stopped plural marriages. Anyone who practices polygamy in church at the present time can remain a member of the church. Today members respect the past when there was plural. Polygamy groups in the western United States and Canada are not part of the Latter- Saints. The term Mormon is also know as a Latter-day Saint but is used incorrectly towards
