Leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organization. In my short two years in the army I’ve seen good leadership and bad leadership. A leader is a motivation for others that inspires individuals to aim high and attain that aim. However a boss only supervises over his subordinates. There are many different types of leadership styles some are effective in different ways some are not. in world war II a man came who’s leadership style was similar to today’s army he believed the ultimate authority rested with him and extended downward. At each level, the superior was to give the orders, the subordinates to follow them to the letter. According to his generals this prohibited them from fighting the war the way it needed to be fought. Some people are excellent leaders some people should just need to shut up and follow.” Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership Colin Powell “. This is very true I’ve several issues in my career two financial issues soon as told my leadership it got fixed. Once I got married I got issues again command sponsorship, medical problems, and ER visits once again I gave the problems to leadership and they helped me out. I have had some truly inspirational leadership that has made me grow as a person and as a soldier they have helped make me stronger, smarter, and better. But with all people there have been many mistakes I have taken and learned from like poor communication, last minute notes, misunderstandings, and giving a standard they don’t always follow. My leadership has also made great sacrifices for me as well long nights at the office, hair pulling
