John F. Kennedy said, “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other”.
As a leader, the desire to be involved in anything that could help me grow and expand my leadership skills is one of my priority. I had the pleasure to participate in two awesome events, leadership mixer and YMCA inspirational breakfast, that allowed me to see another side of leadership in action.
Firstly, the leadership mixer, was much unexpected. The first word that comes to mind when thinking about the word mixer is “movement”, therefore I thought the mixer was about social interaction between the students who minored in leadership. Accordingly, part of it was what I expected it to be, but with a whole lot more to it.
My favorite moment was the speech that one of the leadership minor student gave. I love it because it was very relatable, not only she is a student like me, moreover she talk about a real life scenario. Through her speech, she encouraged us to maximize the use of our top strengths as leaders because most of the time we fail to be realistic with ourselves by trying to hold a position or do something that is contrary to our strengths. Being able to put ourselves in a situation where we can maximize our strengths is very critical for the best of the actions that we are called to do as leaders.
