How will you build on what students have learned in previous lessons and use what they know to support them in meeting expectations of the next lesson? How have you made use of student assessment from previous lessons to make and or adjust these plans?
Due to the toddlers being introduced to some poems and songs, I will incorporate a new poem that will stimulate previous knowledge of felt board poems and songs. In previous group times, the toddlers would say the poem, “Five little monkeys in a tree”. By doing this many times throughout the time of the toddlers being in the classroom, the toddlers were introduced to repitition due to the poem containing repetition. Due to the toddlers being engaged with repititious songs and poems, this lesson will focus on keeping the toddlers engaged and decreasing distractions. Due to asking some of the toddlers about dinosaurs, they seem to have an understanding of what they are which helps me with planning this activity. I will build on what the toddlers have learned by incorporating a repititous poem in order to keep them engaged while some toddlers are being dropped off for the day during group time. I will also observe how they are being persistent with working on paying attention to the story. By observing the toddlers, I will be able to determine if they are developing persistence and are able to pay attention when there are other distractions in the room. I will also measure the toddler's persistence through a class list log. This will show which toddlers were able to become engaged after being distracted and which ones were not able to or struggled with paying attention for a long period of
