Prostitution remains one of the leading social problems in the world. It encourages many other vices that among them include human trafficking and sexual harassment. Because of this, many countries have made it illegal. This means that its participants risk being arrested and charged for engaging in an outlawed activity. However, most countries that illegalize this practice do not make the effort to understand its root cause. Most people engage in prostitution to offer them financial respite. Hence, without a solution, many of them find it challenging to quit prostitution. This will transform the activity from being regarded as a crime to an economic plus. More elaborately, by legalizing the practice, governments will acknowledge its presence as an economic solution and in the process turning it from a negative economic activity to a positive one (Weitzer, 2011). One good thing about doing this is that it helps regulate prostitution thereby making it a sustainable and effective source of income. In terms of regulation, legalizing the practice gives the responsible authorities the power to ensure that it is conducted in a manner that is safe and assuring both for those offering the service and their clients (Weitzer, 2011). For instance, legalizing it does away with the hostile middlemen and in place brings in a system and policy that ensures that those who do it are protected while they pay tax. In places where it is legal, for instance, prostitution is allowed and equally taxed. The taxes go a long way in the developing the society. It is also important to know that by legalizing it, thousands of individuals are offered a complex but easy and legal means to finding financial freedom. Moreover, legalizing it aids governments to save a significant amount of money that is wasted when dealing with the activity in places where it is considered illegal. Regardless, it is the fact that legalizing it helps also to solve the root cause of the problem thereby solving it effectively that makes legalizing it
