Climate change is a global phenomenon driven largely by human activities which has increased variability in our weather patterns and particularly increasing the frequency of extreme weather events and other knock down environmental and even social issues (food security). Therefore scientists and policy makers are taking collective steps, COP21, to curb the effects of climate change. Multiple variables such as temperature, CO2 concentration, greenhouse gas concentration, water in the water cycle when describing the effect of climate change. This can be seen in figure 3 when VPD initially decreases in the first 30 minutes this suggest that stomata are open so the ET is slowed by gentle gradient between water vapour concentration inside and outside the plant. Thereafter there was large increase for a further 30 mins which can be attributed to the large spike in [CO2] at that particular time, which based on Gedney, 2006 elevated CO2 should close the stomata and VPD should increase. However the final decrease in VPD for the duration of the experiment could be caused by partial closure of the stomata to allow gaseous exchange but reduced transpiration as excessive water loss has consequences for the plants survival especially photosynthesis amongst …show more content…
