The Life of Pi was an interesting movie. The plot is conveyed through a combination of third person objective and first person explicit storytelling. Films are in a different realm of narration than books: as in, the reader/viewer is provided with a constant visual. Camera angles and voices are like narrative tones and perspective switching.

Narrator reliability plays a large part in the movie's symbolism and message. After Pi is rescued, he is visited by two Japanese officials tasked with writing a report of the shipwreck incident. The first story Pi tells seems so surreal that the officials again ask for the "truth." Pi's 'truth' is another story, following the same events of the first, but with different characters.
