The "Zoos" - a. This excerpt from The Life of Pi, written by Yann Martell, discusses whether or not animals are happy living in the zoo. I believe they are happy. In the wild, animals are often filled with fear, hunger, and a sense of haphazardness.

To begin, I feel animals are happiest in a place where fear is little. Including the line,"... an environment where the supply of fear is high..."(Martell) verifies the idea that being in a controlled environment like a zoo can limit fear in an animal's mind. In most zoos animals are put in a safe place where they cannot become other prey, this limits the fear animals might feel.
