My lifetime goal is simple; to positively impact the lives of those who need it the most. In high school I made the decision to create an academic and life plan that would help me fulfill my mission. With the help of my mentors I set my career sights on becoming a social worker, special education teacher or child psychologist. All these professions have one thing in common helping people who need it the most, but are often forgotten or ignored by society. I've made progress with the steps completed in these last four years, but I know there is still more to be done. My academic activities prepared me for my lifetime goals in several ways. Whether working or volunteering, I have managed to maintain a high GPA. As a peer assistant for students with disabilities I've seen first hand the challenges these teens face everyday and it gives me the drive to work harder. In this class, I help students with classwork assignments, communication skills and job training. I coach them on specific jobs like filing documents or loading the copy machine with paper these simple tasks gives them skills they can take to the workplace. In addition to these daily jobs, I teach the students life skills that they can take to achieve a normal lifestyle.
