Fun and Games What is the goal of a game? Some of the few wise people left in this world, endowed with the slowly disappearing element of common sense (thank goodness we still have Deadpool to teach us how to use this), would say that the goal of a game is to have fun and spend time with those we care about. Sadly most of the population does not have common sense, and would present a very different answer if this question was asked of them. They would say the goal of a game is to win, to beat out all others. it is this struggle for power, the need to be above all others, that defines our society, and therefore, our literature. Because of his possession of the mystical conch shell, the other boys choose him to lead them over Jack. He sets to work making a fire and shelters, and developing a loose set of simple, easy to follow rules. However, it takes very little time for him to figure out that simply being leader does not mean he will be listened to. The other boys have very little interest in watching the signal fire, or helping make shelters, or keeping their living area clean of waste. They all just want to play, as little boys do.
