To be a villain someone does not have to wear black and have an evil laugh. Most villains are really misunderstood, and seen as purely evil. Every villain has a background story that is usually never talked about or even put into consideration. Every villain has how and why they are evil. Even what they do that make others believe they are evil. Maleficent is seen as one of the most evil villains in Disney history. Maleficent has a rather revealing background. Mendez states that, “[King] Henry promises that whoever kills Maleficent will become the next king and Stefan, blinded by his ambition, drugs Maleficent to kill her but when he can't do it, he cuts her wings instead” (4). Her hatred of King Stefen grows everyday, until one day she curses the king’s infant daughter. Maleficent curses poor Aurora to poke her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep on her sixteenth birthday where only a kiss will wake her up.
