My current professional goal is to perform a stretch assignment by going to another plant and assisting them with their operation. It’s a new start-up plant, and they need experienced manager to travel their and assist with the day to day operations and performance of the lines. Using the S.M.A.R.T Goals specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely, I can better set myself up for success and accomplish my goal in achieving high performance at a new plant. With my high scoring interested profile in social, enterprising, and conventional I am well capable of being successful in helping this other operational group perform. Being able to teach and retrain associates, clarify expectations with clear instructions, and lead the group by being engaging and making tough decisions. When I break down the S.M.A.R.T Goals that will help be succeed the goals come together. “Practical goals are usually specific, measurable, and time-limited. They allow you to evaluate progress and make necessary adjustments along the way.” Cohen, S. (2013).pg.3
Specific – increase schedule attainment by 15% and line performance by 20%
Measurable – current attainment 60% line performance 70%
Attainable – I will establish the root cause analysis and conduct a process map to establish current performance against the standards.
Realistic – I will monitor throughput from current performance, measure yields, and walkthrough process identify improvements and process failures.
Timely – this will be an eight to twelve-week assignment
Using the S.M.A.R.T Goals method, I have a detailed timeline and task list to guide me through my assignment allowing me to stay focused and complete the goal at hand. The plan I created to assist me in completing this goal is to have the S.M.A.R.T Goals posted on me and in front of me all the time. Checking it weekly and daily to ensure I am on track and moving forward. Also, I will go back to my S.M.A.R.T Goals at the midway point and re-evaluate each component. I can use this as my milestone to see how well the process is going and make adjustments if needed. My personal goal is to focus and improve my health through physical fitness and monitoring my nutrient intake by making the right food choices. Nutrition plays a key role in health. My first nutritional plan is to replace foods that lack nutritional value with foods high in nutritional value and complex carbohydrates. I will drink water instead of cokes, teas, drinks high in sugar, etc. My goal is to take in at least 64 ounces a day. Making simple changes like this will boost my metabolism and produce a much healthier body. Exercising will become a part of my fitness routine. My first strategy will be to implement walking. Walking in the morning before work will be a great way to clear my mind and mentally prepare for the day while being active. When using the S.M.A.R.T Goal method I plan to implement the following:
Specific – lose two pounds per week
Measurement – check my progress bi-weekly through strength gains, inches lost, and body composition
Attainable – I will use Myfitnesspal to help track my food intake, I will track my distance and once I reach a mile I will continue until I can comfortable reach two miles.
Realistic – I will focus on losing one to two pounds weekly and increase my strength by five pounds bi-weekly.
Timely – In four months I will reach my goals
My academic goal is to pursue my
