Medical technologies that are based on the principles of atomic and molecular structures specifically medical imaging technologies like the X-Ray and magnetic resonance imaging [MRI] have changed society for the better. The use of medical imaging has improved patient care, reduced health care costs, provided more efficient diagnosis, which increased the range of care, and offered a wider selection of procedures including less invasive image-related treatments like endoscopy, and catheterization this results in less operative trauma's and aids in making the health care system safer, and more effective.
The x-ray was invented by Wilhelm Röntgen, they are a form of electromagnetic radiation, these particles are sent out in waves of different lengths,

The MRI scan has precise accuracy in detecting structural abnormalities of the body but the benefit it has is that it doesn't expose the person to the radiation of an X-Ray. MRI's usually shows problems that can't be seen using other imaging methods, it also provides different information about the structures in the body compared to what can be seen with an computed tomography (CT) scan, ultrasound, or an x-ray. During an MRI test, the person or a part of said person's body is placed inside a machine that has a strong magnet, the magnetic field then temporarily realigns the hydrogen atoms in their body. The radio waves cause these atoms to produce faint signals, which are then used to create the MRI images. The pictures from an MRI scan are digital and can be saved as well as stored on a computer for further study, this means that the images can be re-examined remotely (ex. in a clinic or an operating room). MRI's helped in the development of the knowledge of the human body. The structure of the organs and bones as well as footage of them functioning was now able to be observed though computer screens. This was a major breakthrough and helped in so many tests, and studies which further improved the medical science fields. For example, the brain could not be tested before the invention of the MRI. Scientists found this device to be reliable enough to show the normal anatomy as well as expose any abnormalities the brain may
