Memorial Day is an important day for the citizens of the United States of America. It is about us showing respect for the soldiers that died while they fought for our country. We honor the ones who fought for our freedom and never forget the ones who fought for our lives. The wars that these American soldiers fought for benefit us now because we have the freedom to do whatever we want to an extent. We offer free education and financial aid. This makes me grateful to be able to be a citizen of this country and for my freedom.

Having a day dedicated to the soldiers who died during their service shows our respect for the soldiers who died while fighting for our country. It takes pride and honor for our country to step onto the battlefield and help fight for our country. I have a sister who fought in the War in Iraq from 2002-2004, and she tells me how it was during the war. She lost many of her closest friends during that war. Being in a war brings PTSD to these soldiers, and they are faced with so many challenging obstacles. Even though they had family, friends, and their own lives to lose, they were still willing to fight and risk their lives to give us what we have, which is freedom. …show more content…
However, the moment you are born in the United States of America (USA), you are given freedom such as free education, financial aid, and the freedom to express yourself.
