The Aboriginal community could view the public health nurses as outsides and not trust them, openly defy them, or ostracize them because of their “European” ancestry. Cultural tensions aside the nurses would be working among a high prevalence of mental health disease and an at-risk population for drug use. This would not compromise the wellbeing of nurses, but it certainly jeopardizes wellbeing. An unintended consequence of this intervention would be the community center becoming a hub and accessible location for undesirable loitering and drug trafficking.
