Middle adulthood brings about many new physical, biological, and psychological changes. Many of these changes can be enhance by awareness and being proactive with ones health. We will discuss some of the changes individuals face during middle adulthood and some of the positive ways people can confront these changes.
Middle Adulthood Health Problems
Middle adulthood is identified as an age range of 30 to 40 (Zastrow. C., Kirst-Asman. K, 2010). During this age, most people are in overall good health and have a good bit of energy to get through the day to day tasks of life. It is important to remember, that no two people are alike and everyone ages differently. No two people are the same, and that goes for overall health as well. Health changes and problems in middle adulthood can include, metabolism slowing down, weight gain, diabetes and heart problems (Zastrow. C., Kirst-Asman. K, 2010).
Weight gain and the metabolism slowing down can be a pretty easy fix for any person in middle adulthood. Dieting, eating smaller portions, healthier food options, and daily exercise can really help prevent weight gain, maintain a healthy weight, and prevent the metabolism from slowing. The time span that a woman undergoes physiological changes that bring on menopause is referred to as climacteric. A decrease in the production of estrogen causes menopause in women. During this time women will begin to experience a change in menstruation.
