My role as a military officer will change drastically from my current role as a Senior Non-Commission Officer (NCO). As a Senior NCO, I was primarily responsible for the health and welfare of Soldiers and ensuring they were trained to standard. Most importantly, I was a steward of the Army’s’ culture, traditions, and standards. My role as a Military Officer will be challenging as I will build upon the responsibilities of a Senior NCO. As a Military Officer, I must serve as a manager to Soldiers, plan missions and operations within my technical specialty, give and issue orders, and develop specialized teams of Soldiers to complete complex missions. However, my most important obligation will be to lead Soldiers.
I want to become a military officer because it will offer me a new challenge and unique opportunities to enhance my career. I want to improve myself as a leader in the United States Army. More specifically, I want to become a Warrant Officer. I’ve seen first-hand how Warrant Officers can have a positive effect on an entire command just by leading and educating their command and staff. I must be dedicated to the United States Army, my unit, and its mission. I will be expected to perform and adhere to my responsibilities regardless of the conditions or stressful environment that I may find myself in. I will be held to a higher moral standard as well as ethical behavior. I understand that I will be viewed as an ambassador, not only for the United States Army, but for the United States in many locations throughout the world.
