A drawback of this instrument is that the MMPI-2 can only be bought, administered and interpreted by a trained clinical psychologist or psychiatrist (The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, 2009).

One of the disadvantages of the MMPI-2 for the occupational health physician is that the MMPI-2 is a strictly licensed test and can only be purchased, administered and interpreted by a suitably experienced clinical psychologist or psychiatrist. As such, it should be regarded as a complex diagnostic investigation for relatively infrequent use and it typically takes a person between one hour and 90 minutes to complete the MMPI-2 assessment.
