It then lies upon the nation’s integrity and the people's paranoia (well founded or not). A wonderful display of this argument is the film, Minority Report directed by Steven Spielberg. This film employs a riveting argument at each end of the debate. At one end there is the nation's well funded efficiently ran, yet inhuman structure of security. This system works unprecedentedly well, but it has a flaw in that it is its own self. A flaw which uprises this question, if the future is observed in the present can the course of time be altered and therefore can the system itself have no need to imprison the pre crime victims present in the film. Those who find themselves finding comfort in the system are however at the whim of the system, this is where one find the true hindrance of a surveillance system, those running it. If society was ran by a completely authentic and honest system of surveillance that every citizen believed would uphold their freedoms and privacy. Here in this perfect world all would elated that their friendly government is watching a protecting them, the worry of surveillance and personal privacy would disappear because the people would not have to worry about being wrongfully treated.
