Hiring a moving company can reduce the time, energy, and stress that comes along with changing residences. Unfortunately, most people are not truly prepared when the actual moving day rolls around. Without proper preparation and understanding, you can increase stress for you, your family, and the movers. Here are a few things your movers want you to know before your actual moving day.
Pack and Clear Out
Many people wait until the very last minute to start packing their belongings. Unless your movers have been hired to pack for you, make sure to have everything boxed and labeled before the professionals arrive on moving day. Items strewn and half boxed will become overwhelming to navigate around. These items and boxes will clutter up aisles and walkways, increasing the time and stress needed to move heavy furniture while causing potential accidents and falls.
To ensure there is no added stress on moving day, make sure to pack your belongings and clear out paths and walkways before the moving company arrives.
Check Company Policy
When you first hire your movers, pay special attention to their policies. Since most movers will not transport hazardous or dangerous items, you will need to make other arrangements to move these belongings.
Chemical cleaners, paints, gas, kerosene, propane, weed prevention, and insect control sprays will all need to be transported on your own. Also, many professional movers will recommend moving your own guns and ammo on your own.
If you have any questions about what items your movers will and will not transport, make sure to contact them ahead of moving day.
