This overall, journal will focus on the strong points and defies of my personality type, in reference, to my results of the Myers-Briggs test. However, I describe my personality type as interpersonal and I deal with situations according to my feelings or according to my values. I always felt that the best way to deal with situations is based on my beliefs and not ever on else. The result of the Myers-Briggs test stated I am a INFP (Introverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving) type which decisions are made based on interpersonal feelings and my belief system (Heyward, 2011).
This correlates with what I know about my decision making process, in relation, to my personality characteristics. However, since its development in 1943 for 73 years the Myers-Briggs test had solidified its as method to identify a person’s temperament. Consumers seeking assistance with their barriers could utilize my personality characteristics in both a beneficial and non-beneficial way. For instance, a client who’s not serious about addressing their barriers could exploit my weakness of criticism of the services I provide to cause conflict not to address their issues. However, I see myself as being shy, reserved, and bad at ending relationships as bad in a client social worker relationship. In reference, to the scenario above the consumer could recognize those weaknesses and view me as timid to exploit my services. However, my strengths are recognized working with my professional co-workers within the social work profession. For instance, while working at Urban Ministries of Durham (UMD) I was known for being flexible, loyal, caring, and committed to the clients who needed assistance with addressing their barriers. These strengths in a social worker in UMD environment is greatly accepted and consumers seems empowered when addressing their barriers. However, both my professional collogues and consumer enjoys my primary traits. They say being creative, interested, loyal, and devoted to consumers in pursuit to addressing their barrier is needed within the social work profession.
