Special Wishes for Our AFA Family- The Blessings of a Joyful Thanksgiving Holiday

It’s hard to believe we have cycled through the year so rapidly, with another holiday season arriving at our doorstep so quickly. This was a year of so many astonishing, headline-grabbing stories that occupied our time and our minds, that it seems as though the holidays have crept up on us faster than ever. It's stunning to think that the New Year is just around the corner!

Angry winds of violent storms, tornadoes and heavy damage wrought by powerful hurricanes ravaged the nation, laying waste to vast swaths of countryside. Buildings that withstood hurricane force pummeling, nevertheless succumbed to massive floods, produced by historically heavy rainfall. The year's rough road took a personal heavy toll on so many of our Flight Attendants, as well, playing havoc with their lives. The destructive forces of Hurricane Harvey upon Houston subsequently disrupted company operations for days and left multitudes of United Employees homeless and stranded. As if this were not enough, then hurricane Maria, with her historically strong winds collided with Puerto Rico leaving the island in ruins and the islanders without water, food or electricity, all this while the California wildfires ruthlessly burned homes to the ground.

And then the unthinkable, our hearts broke when we learned of the multiple mass shootings, one taking place in our Flight Attendant base city of Las Vegas, as evil men, without provocation, ruthlessly took the lives of innocent men and women and
