I believe that it is important to have good character, as to it helps oneself guide them through life. Honesty and acceptance are good character traits that I believe to have. Honesty is a very important trait to have in life and I believe that it can make or break someone in situations in your daily life. The idea of honesty regards that someone always tells the truth, regardless of hurting other’s feelings in the process. For me, I think that it is very important to be honest with myself, and with others. In my experience, I believe that telling the truth is always the best option over lying. In telling the truth, I ultimately have nothing to be guilty for, even if I'm believed to be hurting someone’s feelings. Telling the truth will not leave myself with a burden if I harbor the truth for certain amounts of time, and I will not have to worry about someone finding out that I did not tell the truth. Acceptance is also a big factor in having good character, and I am glad that I have found that trait within me. As mentioned in my earlier paragraph regarding the character attribute, acceptance is an important character trait that I possess. Also noted, I am in the LGBT+ community, which is an important of my character and how people perceive me. Some changes that I would like to make in my school, as well as my community, is making people less prejudice towards LGBT+ people. LGBT+ people are discriminated daily due to them loving in a “non-traditional” way and being “different.” You may ask how I intend on doing this, I plan on taking initiative in my classroom. Doing so, I would talk about LGBT+ people and how we are not so different from the “normal” people and just want to be safe to love who we want to love if a backhanded comment is made or a statement regarding the LGBT+ community is made. This is an important part of my life for myself and I would like to make the LGBT+ community more normalized in today’s society.
