Imagine how exciting it is to turn sixteen years old and receive your driver’s license! Then, you are told you cannot drive with your friends in the car at night! That is what states are doing – placing restrictions on the driver’s licenses of new teen drivers. I do not believe there should be limits on new teen drivers. Most teens are responsible drivers, they offer other teens rides to school and work, and they need to drive at night to run errands.

One reason there should not be limits on new teen drivers is that most teens are responsible drivers. For example, teens take drivers education, study, pass their driving tests, and take driving seriously. It is only a minority of teens who are irresponsible. You may say, it is these few drivers that we need to beware of and cause states to place restrictions on all teen drivers. However, all teens should not be punished because of a few irresponsible teens.

A second reason there should not be limits on new teen drivers is many of these teen drivers offer other teens rides to school and work. Many teens would have to walk long distances to and from school and would not be able to

Teens need to go to the library after school and it may be dark; if they participate in sports, it may be dark when they leave school; some teens rely on each other to get back home if their parents are unable to get them or they cannot drive themselves. On the other hand, driving at night can be dangerous, especially if you are distracted in the car and can lead to a higher chance of getting in an accident.
