The University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) ranks third in North Carolina to the 2017 college choice. The university was established by a legislative enactment of February 18, 1892. The city of Greensboro was chosen as the ideal location for the university after the residents decided to approve $30,000 in bonds for its first building (Carrigan, 2008). The schools started from a humble beginning with an enrolment of 176 students on October 5, 1892. The Foust building was once referred to as the “main building” of the school because it was standing alone surrounded by ten acres of mud with just a single tree to beautify the landscape. The building has social, economic, and political significance to the university. The building was built for social empowerment of the people of Greensboro through education. Education has become a universal social phenomenon uniting the local communities of North Carolina all thanks to the first building that started a university. The house was the sole building in the schools that housed the first library and classrooms. The building’s economic value was very useful to the development of the institution. Romanesque architecture was very famous in medieval Europe and semicircular arches characterize it. The system of construction was widely used in the mid-11th century with the advent of Gothic architecture. The style is based on Roman, Byzantine, Carolingian and Ottonian, and traditional Germanic architectural elements (Fernie, 2014). The other distinguishing characteristics of the style include heavier construction, various sorts of vaulting, and additional intricate exteriors comprising of towers and decorative sculptures. On the main entrance, there are large bay windows, which rise like the section of a tower and form a dormer roof. The windows on the two wing flanks also have windows in the shape of a semi-circle. The house also has a unique exterior with towers that make it very handsome (Schumann & Lathrop, 1973). The building has unique extension vaults that make it the best building in the university. The building is made of brick and stone which are the most ideal for making heavy
