Having this capability will provide the user the opportunity to log on to the AAPS program. Second, detach from the network and put the computer in a hibernated status to maintain battery life. Hibernation mode will maintain your sessions and powers down the laptop. When you turn on the computer, your sessions are restored. These procedures allow for the CAC reader to remain readable and battery life to be conserved so the ATON Positioner can fulfill the mission. The Toughbook’s current default power setting when on battery power shuts down the computer when the lid is closed. As a result the laptop has to restart and without a network connection disables the CAC reader. Often ATON units transit many hours that far exceed the Toughbook’s battery life when positioning Aids to Navigation. The only solution is to launch another asset to conduct the positioning or deliver another Toughbook which can be costly and timely. This change can be implemented service wide to all outlying ESD’s with no additional operating costs. The modification of the computer power settings would allow all ATON units’ to conduct operations more effectively and increase response time vital to safe
