Students over the year have learned several different artistic styles and have learned about storyboarding. Storyboarding is appealing to students as they are familiar with graphic novels. A book that I would suggest is Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The goal would be for students to create a fantasy stop motion video that explains what they think will happen next to the characters in the book.

The art teacher then points out how the videos were created using drawings, clay, legos, toys and other objects found in these examples. Students are then able to see how a storyboard will guide their final product.
At this point students are asked to brainstorm ideas. Students then are able to write their story in the classroom with the teacher. Next, the art teacher helps students choose which materials and elements to use in their film. Together, the art teacher and media coordinator help students storyboard their ideas and create their stop motion
