People that achieve “The American Dream” are very driven and determined. Such as Martin Luther King Jr. he wrote the “I Have A Dream” speech to let all African Americans have the same rights as white people, for blacks to achieve “The American Dream”. He says, “But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity” (Luther). Martin Luther King Jr. was very passionate and motivated to make a difference for lives of African Americans. This quote is saying that America has had a lot of obstacles, such as segregation, and African Americans have been discriminated too long and we need to put an end to it. To achieve “The American Dream” you have to be passionate and motivated as well. “The American Dream” doesn’t happen overnight, it will take lots of time, dedication, and determination.
