Sirens, a Greek Monster was the case for many shipwreck and deaths of sailors. They had the body of a bird and the head of a women. Some say they were sea nymphs, daughters of Pharcus or Achelous who had affairs with many women. Other say they were handmaidens of Persephone and Demeter gave them the body of a bird to find Persephone after Hades kidnapped her. Sirens live on an island which is surrounded by dangerous rocks. They’d sing a melody that would lure sailors to their death. Odysseus would either play his lyre or plug sailor’s ear to prevent them from hearing the sad melody of the Sirens.
