As we are a special needs school our class has been doing horse riding activity outside the school/off school premises. I manage this activity once a week by making sure we have a school bus available on the day of the outing. I also make sure that i have a qualified driver to drive the school bus to take is to and from the riding centre. The parents of the children have signed and dated the permission form to allow them to take part in the activity. I make sure that we carry the following equipment with us on the journey at all times. • Mobile phone in case of emergency • First aid kit • Emergency numbers for all the children • Snacks/drink for the children after they finish the activity • Any medicine that a child is …show more content…
When the children take it in turns to go on the horses the rest of the children stay away from the area in case of any accident and keep them safe. The children always wear the right clothing/gear to do this activity it for their own safety.
I always make sure that a risk assessment is carried out before the activity starts for example there is nothing in the way that the children can hurt themselves and if i find anything then i will move it to a safe place.
On site activity
In our class we have some children that cant join the other children in swimming in the public swimming pool so in our school we have our own swimming pool(hydro) for those that cant join the others. This way all children get to do the same activity but some on site and some off site.
This activity is organised every Monday which one member of staff goes in the hydro pool with the child and another member of staff is sitting by the pool in case of any emergencies.
In case of any emergencies there is plenty off staff on the school premises and there is a phone in every room in case we need any help.
By doing these activities the children learn and have fun at the same
