She continued on doing this until 1984 when she started hosting a show that would later be renamed to The Oprah Winfrey Show, which would later go on to win three Emmys. Oprah's Book Club was added to the show and “contributed immensely to the publishing world” (Biography.com Editors). The show ran its course after “[airing] for 25 seasons, from 1986 to 2011. That same year, Winfrey launched her own TV network, the Oprah Winfrey Network.” (Biography.com Editors). The OWN was a joint venture with discovery Communications. She also was in the movie “Native Son, a movie adaptation of Richard Wright's classic 1940 novel” (Esten). Winfrey also helped and starred in a movie called Beloved, which was “adapted from the book by the Nobel Prize-winning American author Toni Morrison”
