Winfrey visited McGraw one day when the stress overwhelmed her. His advice was to appear less defensive, to gather her strength and fight the attack. Winfrey's defense team won the suit. On her show, Winfrey celebrated her legal victory by introducing McGraw, who she credited with helping her to emerge triumphant.” McGraw makes Oprah’s business his problem and solved it demonstrating an act of selflessness as a hero. Phil uses psychology to provide instruction for distressed guests and serves as a role model for others for overcoming adversity. McGraw writes his books for the purpose of helping other people. His job is to offer solutions to people in need and has covered many different issues such as obesity, money, and family. These subjects and advice that he includes in his shows and books relate to him through experience. Since he has been through these events he understands the people addressing their problems. A hero is somebody who helps others without the need of request and is brave to overcome their own obstacles which Dr. Phil McGraw fits the description of. “I have an opportunity to really influence people's' thinking. For example, if we do a show about not fighting in front of your children and how devastating it can be to see yelling and screaming and drunken brawls, I realize people are watching and a significant portion are guilty of doing it. After that show, if I can go home knowing some kids were spared having to go through that and some kids today got their parents awakened to the gravity of their actions, that is a good feeling and I enjoy that influence and impact” (Phil). Dr. Phil does this for the sake of other people. McGraw inspires people through his advice and from his ability to help. He inspires me to study under what he did because I also look forward to a similar profession in psychology. McGraw’s strong impact on the way how people live their lives
