The advertisement for organic tobacco attempts to convince readers whether they are tobacco users or non-tobacco users, by appealing to the need to escape and to feel safe through the image that was used in the advertisement. The company introduces the all new organic tobacco “Natural American Spirits” with American Indians on a sunset imprinted on green cigarette cases, which are standing on top of a soil. The advertisement chose green, which is a color of nature, for their cigarette boxes and word so that it gives the reader the need to feel safe. Also, the picture of the cigarette box on the advertisement appears to have an Indian smoking on a sunset, which lead readers to feel the need to escape. The advertisement employs aesthetics to focus on certain aspects of the product such as the boxes that cigarettes are contained in. By being creative with drawings, the background, fonts, and the boxes of cigarettes, the advertisement is able to draw the reader’s eyes away from the less important part of the advertisement, which are disclaimers that the advertisement has in bold letters by law. Another tactic that the advertisement employs is bribery. Several other Natural American Spirits cigarette advertisements contain either promotion codes or gift certificates that may only be used towards Natural American Spirit’s tobacco in order to convince the reader to try the product. The irony of this tactic is that nicotine is one of the most addictive drug, therefore, addiction to nicotine may lead to spending an ample amount of money over time. The most evident tactic used in this advertisement is symbolism, since that it was mostly built around the symbols. The Native American smoking the pipe on the carton of cigarette implies that Native Americans are made into the cigarettes. This trivializes the Native American culture and exemplifies stereotyping. Another part of the advertisement that reinforce stereotyping is the name of the cigarette itself, which is called the Natural American
