2. Parkinson disease is a disorder of the nervous system which gets progressively worse. The disorder affects different sections of the brain, especially an area which is named the substantia nigra. This area controls balance and movement. One of the first symptoms of parkinson disease is shaking or tremor of the limb, especially when the body is at rest. Usually, the tremor starts on one side of the body, typically in one hand. Tremors can also affect arms, legs, the feet, or face. Other symptoms of Parkinson disease include the limbs and torso being stiff and rigidity, slow movement (bradykinesia) or being unable to move (akinesia), and balance and coordination are impaired(postural instability). People with Parkinson disease are also at an increased risk of developing dementia, which is a decline in intellectual functions including judgment and memory.Parkinson disease that begins after age 50 is called late-onset disease.
