In the Alchemist, a boy named Santiago who is a shepherd and is reading a book while his sheep are being shredded for wool to sell to the merchant; then merchant’s daughter interrupts him reading and asks how he learn how to read. He responded, “I usually learn more from my sheep than from books.” The quote relates to my life, Santiago’s journey, and society because of its moral. For example, in Santiago’s journey he meets an Englishman and he tells Santiago he could learn a lot from book, but Santiago tells the Englishman he could learn a lot more if he just looked around himself, instead of at his book. It also relates to my life because of my life experiences, like when I learned how to surf during the summer, rather than do summer math
