Personal Essay: Why I Attend College

I always wanted to go to college, but I never knew what I wanted to major in until it was right in front of me, when I read books. I always looked at the books with the intriguing art covers. I knew then that is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, which is designing book cover art. The second reason would be that I want to secure a better future for my family financially, so I can then be a better provider for them as well. I also no longer want to keep working dead end jobs with no job security while living paycheck to paycheck. The last reason would be the amazing support that I get from my husband and son, they push me to succeed. They are my biggest fans with their unconditional encouragement and praise. My parents are very proud that my sister and I are both going to college as they have not gone to college. So we are the first generation in our family to attend college. I can then change that aspect of my life, since I like to procrastinate.I would also take what I have learned in SNHU 107 and apply that as well, which would be that it is alright to ask questions and to never be afraid to ask for help. I have found that listening to music helps motivate me,it makes writing assignments easier because then my thoughts flow onto paper and then it’s not so time-consuming. I also take short half hour breaks in between writing and reading which gives me time to collect my thoughts. I also think a good way of staying motivated for me is to just look at my son and think this is to better his future as well as assure him that if my mother can do it so can I. I want to stay motivated to do assignment’s because I want this degree and I want a better future for myself and my husband.
