Nobody can admit “quitting” hasn’t approached the mind in an unbearable situation. The only risk you take is coping with the fact you’re unsuccessful. “Sorry coach, I can’t do this anymore” is nearly a five second conversation ending in disappointment. I was too determined to let those words wiggle out of my mouth. No question about it, basketball is my passion and has been for 9 years now. Stepping out onto the freshly waxed, light brown wooden court erases each little thing from my mind. I enter a second world, with the only worry being the game. By far, the junior basketball season was the most struggling time period I’ve encountered. The court intensified endless stress and worry in my life. Hearing those statistics, you might picture a dysfunctional team; nevertheless, my team has the fundamental skills down with common knowledge of basketball. The games escalated from nail bitters to parents dreading as the game started. Either someone on the team needed to score two more baskets or we were down thirty and the chances of a comeback were slim to none. No matter how close the victory was from our hands, we lacked the ability to finish the job. As the horn sounded for the start of the game, we walked confident and determined to play our hearts; once we reach the middle of the third, everyone in the stands could point out the players who were going through the motions rather than making their own plays.
