Personal Narrative: Football And Basketball

I couldn’t drive, work, or share stories about my job but by the time I was twelve I has already won over six hundred dollars in playing fantasy football and other football related games, When I was eight my father introduced me to sports, more specifically football and basketball. My family’s favorite basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers, had won the 2009 NBA Finals and after this occurred I began to take more intertsest in sports. By the time I was ten the Lakers had began to lose my favorite players and were on a losing streak. When the Lakers declined my favorite football teams, the San Francisco 49ers, had began to become more dominant in the NFL. This is when my love for football took off.

I asked my mom if I should play and she told me to do it. I still wasn’t sure if I should play or not but I finally decided to join. The first year I played I went 4-8 and it wasn’t good because I had missed the playoffs. The second season I went on a five game losing streak but managed to barely get into the playoffs. When I got to the first round I won the it by a lot of points and went on the the second round where I believed I would lose. Luckily for me my opponent had a player who became injured during the game and a player who wasn't doing well during the game and it helped me secure a win in the second round. In the third round, or superbowl, I had to play against my dad. This created a family rivalry between us but we made a compromise. Since first place would win around six- hundred dollars and second place would win around four hundred dollars my dad and I decided to go five hundred dollars each. I ended up winning first place that year but the next year I went 3-9 because my star players on my team were always injured. Because of sports I was able to spend time with my dad and I learned how to connect with adults. Now my sister has joined our league and we are yet to find out how well of a player she will be. “Football is Family” is a phrase often said by football players because they treat each other like family but in my life “Football is Family” gives a reason to spend
