Looking back today, I can see that that helped me become more of a man. We had done our walk through the woods and packed up the camper, we had been at the campground since Friday night and were leaving that Sunday night. We got home around 5:30 pm and we ended up getting a call around 6:00; our neighbors, the Golmics, needed their grass cut and I knew that by doing this, I will show that I am becoming more responsible. So I did what I needed to and cut it; that was my first time cutting someone’s grass that was not mine. Then around 7:00 pm, we got a phone call. The phone was blaring.
“Mom we have a phone call!” I screamed to my mother who was upstairs watching TV. I was getting my hockey gear together. My mom was talking for a good while and all of the sudden, she said,
“Christian get your father!”
“Ok”, I responded running outside. Turns out there were robberies all over the area and my neighbors behind us, not the ones I cut grass for, told my parents and warned them to lock the cars and our doors. With that I remember that the Golmics’ house was unlocked. This is where my responsibility was tested. Not only did I have to cut their grass, but watch and protect the house. I stayed up all night and watched the
