My Knee

On the day I hurt my knee, it was like any other day during the football season. I woke up at six in the morning, drove to school to lift weights, ate pancakes that some of the football moms cooked for us, and went about my day. In fact, it was a good day! I had bought my Camaro from Rick Johnson, and Deon was going to pick it up. It was a stick shift and I had practiced before so I was okay to drive it. After a normal day at school, I went home to rest up and eat before the game. When I drove back home I went through my routine of eating and talking football with Deon. I then drove back to school in my new car, and went into the locker room. The atmosphere in the locker room was your typical football locker room. Everyone is starting to put their equipment on, listening to their music with their headphones, and starting to get pumped up. When the game started against South Hardin, it went very well. Hansen, accompanied by Coach Hauer and Saffrath, came out to see what was wrong. They ask me some questions, like “Does it hurt?”, “What’d you do?” I remember answering them “Yeah it hurts” and “I have no idea!!!” Doc started twisting my knee and told me that my MCL was torn. Coach Hauer and Saffrath helped me back to the sideline where I tried to figure out what was wrong myself. I lifted my leg while sitting on the bench, and my whole leg below the kneecap started swinging like a tire swing in a stiff breeze. Not to mention my knee was hurting like crazy! A couple of days had passed, and I had an MRI telling me that not only was my MCL torn, but also my meniscus, and PCL. For people that aren’t as familiar with terms for ligaments, it pretty much meant that my knee was trashed. Not only was I done playing football for the season, I couldn't walk. I hobbled on aluminum crutches at first, but switched to wooden crutches because I liked them
