Personal Narrative: Senior Project Ideas

Poking around for Senior Project ideas was a lot harder than I had thought. I was at a loss especially since my first plan fell through because of scheduling issues. My mentor/art teacher -Jessica Rollins- suggested that I do shirts for the Art Club. She had already wanted this project done, but she did not have time to do it herself. The decision to do this project “killed two birds with one stone”. Even Though the project itself was very convenient the steps involved in finishing it was not. The first step included a lot of research, so mainly learning about different fabric weights, prices, colors, and qualities. After the research was taken care of I had to draw four different designs, and this took the majority of the project. I had to throw together concepts based on ideas my mentor and I wanted. Taking concepts to photoshop to drawing them digitally then finally saving/sending to the printing shop. Waiting for a few weeks to get the shirts ordered, sent, printed, and sent back was one of the hardest steps, though, in the end, it was all worth it. …show more content…
Jessica is my Art teacher, advisor, and friend for the past four years. My project was a favor to her. She was very generous because of this; the shirts and printing were all paid for by her. Those designs were both the easiest and hardest part of the whole project. Hardest because designing concept art is not easy. Deciding on what is final and what is going to change in a design is very stressful but very rewarding. All of this almost didn't happen because shirts were a backup plan. My first plan was teaching a small art class at a local elementary school. Though the plan was not a success I had many other ones in my second project. After all of my waiting, I can physically hold my shirts. A lot of work and time has gone into the printing of these shirts, so having them finished is a very nice feeling or high
