Lord of the Flies
In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a group of young boys land on an island and are determined to survive. In order for the boys to survive, they will need someone to take the role of an adult and lead the boys to get rescued. Simon should be the one to claim this role on being the ideal leader for the boys because he is very thoughtful, his maturity level is higher than the other boys, and he is very brave.
Firstly, Simon is a very thoughtful young boy that has that sense of caring and showing interest in helping others. His thoughtfulness helps the boys survive the island. Simon helps out the littluns pick fruit: "Then, amid the roar of bees in the afternoon

Simon understand how they need to survive and he does whatever it takes for them to survive. In order to survive, Simon aids ralph with whatever help he needs. As ralph was building the huts, Simon is the only one out of all the other boys to help him. As ralph says to all the other boys "And I work all day with nothing but Simon and you come back and don’t even notice the huts!"(Golding 55). This shows us how Simon is mature enough to understand the situation they are in, and what is needed in order to survive. Later through the novel, the boys come across a beast which they are all afraid of except for Simon. He states: "...maybe it's only us that we're afraid of”(Golding ). This showcases Simons intellectual thoughts on how the beast isn't actually a physical creature rather he thinks its themselves. By stating this the reader can see Simons mature thoughts on coming up to a reasonable solution. Simon then starts hallucinating because he's having some type of seizure so he isolates himself from the kids in order for them not to get scared of him or even make fun of him. Simon in this state understands that he has to isolate himself away from the kids because of his maturity and for them not to react in a wild disrespectful
