If you slack off and repudiate your responsibilities as a student what’s the point of getting a free ride and passing if you didn’t put in the effort? If a student has to repeat the year, it may come with peer judgement and self judgement. When it comes to failing 9th grade, it’s utterly terrifying to think about but is valuable to put out there for students to think about.
On the other hand I believe that senior year is also one of the most important years. While getting through your other years, being a senior is quite stressful, possibly more stressful than freshman year.
In addition to having the stress of college acceptance letters, they seem to slack off thinking “oh i’m gonna graduate and i don’t have anything to worry about” which causes them to fail, but this isnt always the case, many students stay focused and make it through. But some people have a tendency to give up in the end when they’re so close to getting what they want , they start to think to think they don’t have to work that hard
