It’s all fun and games until somebody drops out. Being a 9th grader may seem like the greatest thing at the beginning, but when it all come down to getting the work done and trying to fit in, its hard. Many students in 9th grade fool around until they get hit in the face with the realization that they’re going to fail. The average fail rate for freshman is very shocking. I would have thought students in either 10th or 12th grade would have the highest failing rate. But it is true that 9th grade is the make or break point of your high school path.
In this case you would think that these failing students are slackers or people who don’t care, but really they’re average kids who just aren’t giving it enough effort. Student around the ages 13-15 think they’re giving their all but they’re really giving …show more content…
If you slack off and repudiate your responsibilities as a student what’s the point of getting a free ride and passing if you didn’t put in the effort? If a student has to repeat the year, it may come with peer judgement and self judgement. When it comes to failing 9th grade, it’s utterly terrifying to think about but is valuable to put out there for students to think about.
On the other hand I believe that senior year is also one of the most important years. While getting through your other years, being a senior is quite stressful, possibly more stressful than freshman year.
In addition to having the stress of college acceptance letters, they seem to slack off thinking “oh i’m gonna graduate and i don’t have anything to worry about” which causes them to fail, but this isnt always the case, many students stay focused and make it through. But some people have a tendency to give up in the end when they’re so close to getting what they want , they start to think to think they don’t have to work that hard
