Stubby, a pit bull mix, worked in the army during World War 1 and saved his platoon from a poison gas attack, got wounded twice in battle, and was awarded army medals. Pit bulls can be calm, loving dogs, but when an owner trains them wrong, the owner allows the pit bull to be dangerous. Pit bulls make loyal dogs that will protect you with their lives. Pit bulls should be pets because they are respected breeds, and they make great working dogs. One reason pit bulls should be family dogs is pit bulls are a loved and popular breed. Pit bulls are loyal, athletic, and playful, so they are perfect dogs for hunting and guarding. Herding and military use are other common jobs where you might see a pit bull. All in all, pit bulls are great in a range of working fields, including pulling carts and sleds. Some people claim that pit bulls attack more often and attack more viciously than any other dog breed. However, any dog can attack a human from a golden retriever to a pomeranian, and the media will say an unknown dog breed is a pit bull, even when it is not. The article states, “The media intentionally over-reports incidents involving pit bulls, while keeping silent on attacks committed by dogs with better reputations, such as Labradors”(Cross 13). This shows that the fake news of the media causes mistrust in pit bulls, but most people believe all the media says, not facts.
