After the Plessy v. Ferguson case things in the United States changed, now public facilities could be segregated as long they were equal, this led to even more discrimination against African Americans and more cases started to show up. One of the most important cases was the Brown v. Topeka Board of education.
Linda Brown had to walk a mile every day to get to her non-white school, even though she lived a lot near to a white school, when the Browns tried to enroll her child to the white school they were turned away because of her color and the Browns weren’t the first family to be turned away.
