Many Americans don’t realize how sheltered our country is, thus taking advantage of schooling and education. Places like the Middle East, don’t allow education to everyone. In fact, no women or girls are allowed to attend school. In America, most children are blessed with the opportunity of an education. Our country views education as one of the most crucial things in a child’s life, which I am entirely grateful for. With knowledge and education comes great power. The differences between people with education and people without education can be drastic for a country. I personally believe that every single human should have the right to get an education, so they can make a better future for themselves. Malala Yousafzai was sixteen years old when she won the “Nobel Peace Prize” for standing up for what she believed in. She was shot for trying to go to school and further her education. After that experience, which made her stronger, she furthered her cause and traveled the world, speaking on behalf of girl’s education. …show more content…
She says in an interview, “all my friend’s faces we covered, but mine was not.” There were two men, and one of the men started asking for her by name. The same man then pointed a gun at Malala. She wanted to reason with the man, and tell him she was going to school for his daughter and the daughters of her town. He then shot her three times, one in the head, one in the neck, and one in the shoulder. Two of her friends on the bus were also injured in the attack. Luckily, she survived and was sent to a hospital, where she had to acquire her basic motor skills again. After her attack, she felt empowered to fight for equality in education, and went to different places around the world to talk about her experience.
