Not only did laboratory researchers find new treatments, they also improved existing drugs by making them safer. Other than drugs they also made substances we are exposed …show more content…
The medical research in understanding cancer, malaria, multiple sclerosis, tuberculosis and many viruses brought major advances. Thanks to testing on monkeys the deadly disease Polio is eliminated worldwide. Polio is a virus that causes paralysis by invading the brain and spinal cord. Franklin D. Roosevelt was a Polio patient. The part that everyone tries to ignore is the cruel fact about how an estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing. Testing on animals have the same traits as humans do, and feel the same way as you would if you we're getting tested on. Chimpanzees share 99% of their DNA with humans, mice share 98%. Testing on animals is like testing on animals. It’s mean! You wouldn't want to be tested …show more content…
They say that living organisms are very complex and most of we still do not understand. If scientists work on animal researches they also find out more about organisms. It is really important for future medicine to keep testing on animals to find more out about new treatments but also DNA, cell division and proteins. The problem with this is that humans and animals aren't exactly alike, therefore, the medicines, and make-up that we test on them won’t have the exact same result on humans as they do on the animals. Animals and humans have very different traits, reactions, and innards. If we're just testing on animals, there's a chance that we could miss a scientific breakthrough because the animals had a bad reaction. Many drugs, including Aspirin, almost didn't get to go on the sale, because it had a bad result on rats. Therefore, some helpful drugs can be missed because of animal
