1 out of 3 black men born today can expect to go to prison, compared to white men which would turn out to 1 out of 10 (Sentencing Project, 2005, PG 11). Racial disparity in America has been a longstanding debate. Individuals often believe racial disparities do not exist because our country is occupied by multiracial and multiethnic people. Although with such diversity, racial disparity is very prominent especially in the lives of black people. Racial disparities are the proportion of a racial/ethnic group within the control of the system is where there is a greater proportion of such groups compared to the general population. Only 33% of high schools with a high population of Blacks and Hispanics have higher level classes such as, math and science; compared to an insignificant amount of Blacks and Hispanics students it increases to 56% availability. On the contrary, what opportunity is there if our education system believes a black or Hispanic student education is worth less than a white kid education.
