The Museum of Tolerance addresses two thought-provoking themes: racism and prejudice in America and the history of the Holocaust during World War II. My overall experience at this museum in Los Angeles left me troubled by the overwhelming amount of intolerance that has corrupted our society. Racism is bred out of hate and ignorance and leads to self-destruction. It has divided and conquered people because it deeply affects one’s way of thinking.
The first section of the museum I entered was the "Tolerance Center". This section gave a historical presentation of racism in America and how prevalent it is today. Interactive exhibits further exemplified this by showing people attesting to stereotypes and biases. Another exhibit addressed how media impressions we received when we were children and still continue to receive, greatly influence us. The other exhibits in this segment addressed racial relations and the harm that results from ignorance.

The Holocaust tour was not only an educational experience for me, but it was definitely an emotional experience that showcased the horrors of the holocaust in the most brutally honest way. As my parents and I entered the dark and cold corridors, images and visual presentations of swastikas and Hitler's rise to power were conveyed various exhibit scenes. It was interesting to learn that Hitler was such a master manipulator who exploited people's fears to pursue his own personal, prejudiced agenda. He used the Jews as a scapegoat for all of the problems that the Germans faced. By doing this, he started the Nazi propaganda that paved the way for holocaust of the Jewish
