Director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal’s drama movie, Detroit, gives us a peek at racism and police violence, particularly the killing of three black teens 50 years ago. The murder took place at the Algiers Motel amid the riots that went rampant in Detroit. John Boyega plays the role of an African-American part-time security guard who ends up becoming a defendant on the case.
